- Dr Julian Lower was awarded his PhD from The Flinders University of South Australia in 1990. After working as an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow at the Max-Planck-Institute for Fluid Dynamics in Gö!ttingen, Germany, he returned to Australia to pursue atomic and molecular physics-research at the ANU, specializing in the area of spin-resolved electron-atom collision-studies. His present areas of interest include the role of electron spin in ionization and excitation process, relativistic and many-body effects in atomic ionization, elucidation of mechanisms underlying molecular fragmentation processes and the development of multi-parameter measurement-technologies for collision studies. His involvement in the centre will focus around the investigation of near-threshold excitation in atoms and molecules using advanced Time-of-Flight spectrometer-technology.
