Research in the Centre
Dr Julian Lower was awarded his PhD from The Flinders University of South Australia in 1990. After working as an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow at the Max-Planck-Institute for Fluid Dynamics in Gö!ttingen, Germany, he returned to Australia to pursue atomic and molecular physics-research at the ANU, specializing in the area of spin-resolved electron-atom collision-studies. His present areas of interest include the role of electron spin in ionization and excitation process, relativistic and many-body effects in atomic ionization, elucidation of mechanisms underlying molecular fragmentation processes and the development of multi-parameter measurement-technologies for collision studies. His involvement in the centre will focus around the investigation of near-threshold excitation in atoms and molecules using advanced Time-of-Flight spectrometer-technology.
