- Michael Brunger has been involved in AMO Physics and Chemical Physics since completing his PhD at Flinders University in 1988. After postdoctoral work at ANU and Flinders University he established an atomic physics research activity at Flinders University. This has focused on absolute scattering measurements for excitation of vibrational levels and electronic states in diatomic and polyatomic molecules. Recently this work has been extended to look at elastic scattering cross sections for radical species that are of relevance to technology. In addition, he has also developed a facilty that allows for the modelling of a diverse range of atmospheric phenomena under different environments. This latter facility nicely demonstrates how the nanoscale drives macroscopic behaviour. Current interests in the Centre involve benchmark studies of positron collisions with atoms and molecules, particularly bio-molecules.
