- Spin Polarization Parameters and Stokes Parameters
- Research in the Centre
- Professor McEachran has been involved in electron and positron scattering from atoms since completing his Ph.D. at the University of Western Ontario in London, Canada. After postdoctoral work at University College London in the UK, he joined the Faculty at York University in Toronto, Canada. In 1997 he joined the Atomic and Molecular Physics Laboratories at ANU. His research has focussed upon the development of the polarized-orbital method for the treatment of elastic and inelastic cross sections for closed-shell and alkali-like atomic systems and upon the relativistic treatment of these scattering processes in order to determine spin dependent scattering parameters. Current interests in the Centre involve positron collisions with atoms and molecules and the treatment of positronium formation in atomic scattering processes.
